Search for novelty and an inventive step

A search for novelty and / or inventive step may be prepared by experts from the Patent Office. The prepared description is submitted for examination to the Patent Office, and the result of which can be obtained within a few days. The search is performed in the available patent databases and provides information about documents related to the novelty of the technical solution, subject of the search. In the opinion on novelty, prepared by the Patent Office, a reasoned assessment is made, based on the presented description, in relation to each of the found documents (if any).

If a novelty serach is submitted, the opinion of the search can be used when applying for an innovation program.

 

Search for earlier trademark rights

It is recommended that before applying for a trademark, a search be carried out on earlier similar / identical trademarks that could oppose the registration of the mark chosen by the applicant.

The preliminary search covers the examination of conflicting trademarks applied for and registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and all intellectual property offices of the EU Member States (upon registration of an EU trademark).

 

Search for earlier industrial design rights

It is advisable to do a design novelty search before applying for an industrial design. The preliminary search covers the verification of applied for and registered designs with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and all intellectual property offices of the EU Member States (upon registration of a design).
